About Shandong University of Technology
Established in 1956, Shandong University of Technology (SDUT) is one of the key comprehensive universities in Shandong Province, with an academic focus on Science and Engineering. SDUT is located in Zibo which was once the capital city of the Qi State, the most powerful state during the Spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period (about 2000 years ago) in China. The campus covers an area of 240 hectares and combines a pleasant locale with convenient transportation. It is only 1.5 hours from Qingdao by high-speed rail, and about 2.5 hours' drive from Qufu, Confucius’ hometown. Currently, SDUT has 21 academic schools, with a total enrollment of 33,000 full-time undergraduates and over 2,600 graduates.
SDUT boosts itself with a wide coverage of nine major disciplines - engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, history, pedagogy and arts. There are 75 undergraduate programs, 98 graduate programs, and 13 doctoral programs offered by the university, among which quite a lot enjoys a nationwide and international fame, such as Chinese Language and Literature, International Economy and Trade, Finance, Accounting, Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation, Vehicle Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Energy and Power Engineering and Civil Engineering.
SDUT is one of the examination centers for the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) approved by Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters), and has been working with the International Society of Chinese Language Pedagogy (ISCLP) on the Chinese language teachers' training and testing, which grants the Certificate of Accreditation in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. SDUT accepts international students sponsored with the Chinese Government scholarship and the Shandong Provincial Government Scholarship. SDUT has established friendly cooperative relationships with more than 60 universities in 17 countries. SDUT works extensively on joint programs, student and faculty exchange, scientific research, and international workshops and conferences. So far, SDUT has developed 7 joint programs with the Republic of Ireland, South Korea, the USA, the UK and other countries. SDUT has also carried out undergraduate student exchange programs on "2 + 2" and "3 + 1" models with many well-known overseas universities. In recent years, more than 2,800 international students have studied with us. They come from over 20 countries including South Korea, Russia, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
